Extreme Safety Measures Contest!

With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, TNVLC has placed nearly all in-person events and activities on hiatus until it is reasonably safe to meet in person again. However, that hasn't kept us from some wonderful LEGO action!

From August 30 through October 11th, members of TNVLC's Knoxville Chapter were tasked with building creations that showcased LEGO Minifigures going above and waaaaaaaaay beyond the normal safety guidelines during the era of Covid-19. Once the dust settled, we had a total of 4 wonderful entries which were then judged by Brian Sauls of the Nashville Chapter, Frank Butler from Knoxville, and guest judges Dr. Dominique Robertson-Harris (who has been working to treat Covid patients in Chattanooga, TN) and her husband Kyle.

So, without further ado, I present the four entries and winners for our contest:

Honorable Mention goes to Patrick Durham's "Social Distancing in the Wizarding World" which features Harry Potter, all alone in the Hogwarts Great Hall as Dementors spread the dangerous virus.

In 3rd Place, we have Zion Gillette's "Safety Checks these Days" in which a lone survivor has barricaded his settlement and uses a makeshift extendo-arm to check clearance from a safe distance.

In 2nd Place is the White family's "Beachside Office" where, with the beach closed to the public and reclaimed by the animals, the office workers have donned their scuba gear (and a garbage can) to ensure proper safety.

And finally, in 1st Place, we have Jamie Johnson's "Canadian Bunker" where a lone Canadian hunkers down deep underground with his beloved beard brush to wait out the pandemic.

Special thanks to all of our contestants, as well as the judges for everything. Knoxville Chapter will be back at the contest game again after the first of the year with our next Challenge: LEGO in Motion!
