The Tennessee Valley LEGO Club was delighted to be invited to participate in the 2013 Southerland Station Toy Store holiday open house which took place on Saturday, Dec. 7th and Sunday, Dec. 8th at the store location at 402 Governors Drive SW in downtown Huntsville, AL. Store owner Dick Metzger has kept this wonderful holiday tradition for over twenty years and TNVLC has participated since the club's inception in 2008.

While the club's 2013 display was a bit more modest when compared to the one from 2012, we were pleased to include some amazing elements such as a Mindcraft themed section by Caleb Ellett and a crowd pleasing haunted house by recent new member Bill Boettner. Veteran club member and train specialist Charles Naumann impressed the crowd with a few unique and rare trains from his personal collection as well as his Rubik's Cube solving Mindstorms robot. Josiah Blake displayed several clever space-themed MOCs and Jennifer Garlen and Chris Bolton showcased a traditional LEGO city-scape with holiday accents.

Young and old enjoyed the display as well as the play brick which features new Hero Factory elements added to the club's inventory in 2013.

The Rocket City Jr. LEGO club also participated in the open house and both groups saw significant interest in new membership.
