NormalPalooza 2014, November 8, 2014

On November 8, we returned to the home of the Normal Park Museum Magnet school for our third consecutive year supporting the NormalPalooza outdoor arts festival. This year we were greeted to a beautiful fall day, fantastic hosts and a great turnout. Following last year's trend, we were offered a prime spot: close to the stage and right in front of the main school entrance. This ensured a constant stream of visitors who enjoyed viewing our MOCs, asking questions and playing with the abundant selection of play brick.

In attendance this year were Chris & Anna, Charles, Franklin & Tim, Jon & Jenni and Pete. As usual, this is a tough event to setup, given the early start and time zone change but we were fully up and running by 11. Our visitors didn't seem to mind and in fact, watching us set up generated a lot of really good questions.

New this year were several great MOCs by Franklin while Chris and Jon brought some GBC/technic creations they've been working on.

Our layout hit the maximum size that can reasonably fit under 2 tents at 20' long and saw a lot of train activity thanks to Chris' track centric center section. This provided for a lot of motion on a relatively small layout which our younger visitors thoroughly enjoyed.

Pete also debuted his Harrison Brother's hardware block and rounded out the other end of the layout with some familiar Huntsville architecture.

Attendance seemed to be up from last year and the new event leadership did a great job keeping everything running smoothly. Hopefully, we'll be able to return again next year!
