BrickBlast 2014, December 13-14, 2014

For the first time in the history of our club, the month of December saw us somewhere other than Southerland Station. We didn't let the loss of their annual Christmas open house slow us down though. We came up with a new name and thanks to our hosts and Trinity UMC, we were able to display by far our largest collaborative display ever! Additionally, we were able to feature a great selection of MOCs, provide space for the Rocket City Junior Club, in addition to plenty of play tables as well as booths for the publishers who have generously supported the club with books to review. The Huntsville Botanical Gardens and Making Connections were both on hand as well. We also had a raffle each day which was generously supported by The LEGO Group.

Making Connections is a networking group for families affected by autism spectrum disorders and received the proceeds from this event. We were quite pleased to partner with them this year and by the time the weekend was over, we had raised enough money to support many of their activities for a couple of years!

The event was held on December 13 and 14 and saw around 500 visitors. That's down from years past, but perhaps not surprising given the change in venue. We'd like to thank all the visitors who came out and supported such a great cause!

In addition to all the great MOCs, Emmett also dropped by for pictures!

Jennifer coordinated an amazing micropolis display. We're looking forward to seeing this grow in the future.

One of several castles on display.

Even minifigs love The LEGO Movie!

Harrison Brothers' debut appearance.

Perfect date night activity: LEGO Golf!

A small piece of a sprawling Minecraft display

An amazing micro scale ship

And a small teaser of something to come at BrickFair...
